First Cut

Just before his second birthday, we decided to it was time to get Kai’s haircut.  Chika was going in for an appointment and our local stylists offers free cuts to client’s kids.  Kai was a smooth customer, appropriately browsing the artwork in the waiting area, calmly sitting for his session, and even offering a few poses to capture the results at the end.

While I like the fresh look, I realize more clearly why Chika wants me to keep my hair longer: clean does not always equate with character.

GÄRTEN DER WELT (or Gardens of the World)

Kai is my first mate when it comes to exploring new territories here in Berlin, and today we decided to head to the unchartered waters well beyond the central ring.  I had read about the Gardens of the World in a local Berlin tourist guide, but never managed to build up the energy to head out.  But somehow, I was inspired this morning, packed the picnic lunch, and set out for an adventure.  And a good journey it was.  Kai had a great time in the gardens, and miraculously was able to sit through a picnic lunch (at least until it was time to clean up and I had to chase him back a few times).  We definitely plan to visit again.

Hoffest

Being that everyone at work at Nokia typically had their summer party in June, had the month of July off at some summer cottage, and had already been back at the desk for over a month running full speed, the Hoffest was a bit out of place and sync.  Yet the unexpectedness of a great event — especially for the kids — made it a bit more special.  Like the movie that wasn’t overhyped and turned out to be extremely enjoyable.  And that it was, with fun for all.

Japan | Tokyo | Baby Meetup

It seems once you start the baby process, there is a gravity which seems to draw all attention and activities to babies.  Which in this case was a celebration of our friend Takeshi’s brand new baby boy Zen.  We started at the baby cafe to be followed with some prerequisite equipment shopping.
